Bron Afon Community Housing Project

The project for Bron Afon Community Housing consisted of providing EWI (Wetherby 90mm Grey EPS Dashing system in Black & White or Red and White spar) and re-roofing works for 92 houses in Garndiffiath and Varteg. It started on 12 October 2015 with an initial 20-week programme. This was extended due to extreme weather conditions during December and January and also the inclusion of additional works being added as the project was being delivered.

Whilst delivering the works we also managed the program of works for the installation of new flat roofs to outhouses, new Perspex lean-to shelters and also new front level pitched tile roofs to match main roofs, all fitted by our pre qualified subcontractor Span Roofing.

We, as we do whilst delivering all our contracts, have maintained a high level of quality workmanship and cleanliness that both the client and tenants appreciate.

We always believe in providing added value by way of community benefits. On this project it included the employment of a van driver and five labourers as well as the contribution of supplying a Community Skip for the tenants to dispose of unwanted items. In addition we have, in conjunction with Torfaen Council, supplied new posts to grass areas on Penylan Road.

Lee Phillips, Bron Afon’s Senior Contracts Manager, said: “We are really pleased with this work by Joyner PA (Cymru) Ltd. The weather conditions were a challenge but the team on site managed this well with our tenants. The local residents appreciated the use of the community skip and the community benefits from the project really fitted with our aims and values.”
